Brandon had the opportunity to interact with the real engineering world with his experience at his internship. Brandon interned at a company called Agvision, whos specialty is agribusiness software. While he did not directly work on the software being sold to customers, he made a major change to their in house database, which had to be converted from Access '97 to Access 2013. This proved to be a challenge because nobody in house had any viable experience to share with him. So, Brandon taught himself how to fix major issues by tackling code with the mindset to find where the code was breaking for each of the conversions. He eventually found out the code originally used was referencing a file type that was no longer supported in Access 2013 and was able to fix the issue before the short summer concluded. After the conversions were pushed out to everyone in the office, he worked on a couple changes to said database for ease of access. Brandon learned through this experience that you may have to do something the least efficient way because your boss thinks that is the best way to tackle said problem.
