Project Defenition:
The project for my senior design class is defined as an RFRD (Radio Frequency Readout Device) project. We are supposed to use current RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) technology to harvest energy from a reader and then to transmit back variable data from a capacitive sensor. This data will be used to determine the distance between two parallel plates. One example of this working would be on the bolts holding a street lamp to the concrete below. The capacitance measurement will be able to tell if the plates are tight due to distance. This will save time and energy because every year in Iowa, every street lamp must be checked to see if the bolts are tight.
My contribution to this project is being the group leader. The one thing to mention is that the leader is not the "boss". The leader is there (in my opinion) to help along members and make sure everything is on track to get done on time. When not being the man connecting the communication wires between the two teams, I primarily help with the Integrated Circuit (IC) team which is currently developing the RFRD tag right now.
